Branding and labels for a Hungarian winery
_______
For over 100 years, the Stubenvoll family has been making wine in the Sopron-Fertőtáj wine region. They were a “poncichter” family - meaning they also grew beans in their vineyards, along the rows of their grape plants, a typical practice in the Sopron region. The small stylised beans in the Stubenvoll logo refer back to this tradition. Last year, descendents of the Stubenvoll family, the young brothers Csaba and Péter Orosz, started their own small winery using the knowledge and practices of their ancestors.
The view of the city of Sopron, with its iconic fire tower, is memorialised on the wine label. The wines are categorised into two series, differentiated by lighter labels, for red, white, and rosé wine, and darker ones for kékfrankos and zöldveltelini wines.
We approached this label design with the themes of family, tradition, comfort, and sophistication in mind. The light labels are in shades of cream and dusty pink, while the darker labels are in olive green and deep purple. The labels feature gold and copper accents, to highlight the city view. The cork is covered in a wax seal, pressed with the Stubenvoll emblem.
The Stubenvoll winery also produces a limited edition Pet-Nat, or “Pétillant Naturel”. This respected, traditional manner of producing sparkling wine fits perfectly with the identity of Stubenvoll, and their appreciation of authenticity, craftsmanship, and natural wine handling.
